General Liability

General Liability Insurance, also known as Commercial General Liability Insurance, provides essential coverage to businesses, and is often required by client contracts or to sign leases. It protects your business from another person’s or businesses’ claims of bodily injury and related medical costs, property damage, data loss and personal injury.

Here’s what is covered:

  • Bodily Injury and related medical expenses (e.g. customer slips and falls on your property)
  • Products liability (e.g. food poisoning)
  • Third party property damage (e.g. damage to customer property)
  • Personal and Advertising Injury (e.g. libel, slander, copyright infringement)
  • Related defense costs (e.g. the cost to defend your business)

Other coverages offered within our General Liability product:

  • Contractors’ Installation, Tools and Equipment
  • Loss or Damage to Customers’ Automobiles
  • Hired and Non-Owned Automobile
  • Professional Liability (Errors and Omissions) for select classes
  • Cyber
  • Employee Benefits Liability
  • Employment-Related Practices Liability

Some things that are NOT covered:

  • Damage to business equipment and rented property (if your business owns or rents equipment, you may want a Business Owner’s Policy (BOP) to cover them)
  • Employee on-the-job injuries (this is covered under Worker’s Compensation Insurance)
  • Employee discrimination lawsuits (but you can add Employment-Related Practices Liability Insurance within our Business Owner’s or General Liability products to cover situations like this)
  • Failure to appropriately administer an employee’s benefits package (but you can add Employee Benefits Liability Insurance within our business owner’s or General Liability products to cover situations like this)
  • Malpractice
  • Fraud or intentional injury
  • Failure to protect sensitive information
